PCCD Celebrates PA Prevention Week, May 11-15, 2020

Harrisburg, PA. — The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) joined the Commonwealth Prevention Alliance (CPA) today to announce a series of virtual, online events to celebrate PA Prevention Week from Monday, May 11th to Friday, May 15th.  The effort – which is part of National Prevention Week (NPW) hosted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) – is an annual public education platform that celebrates prevention successes and advocates for its greater use.

"PCCD has long supported evidence-based prevention programs," Mike Pennington, Executive Director of PCCD said. "PA Prevention Week is a great opportunity to draw attention to these programs, and we are pleased to be part of this celebration."

Links to the online events can be found directly on the Commonwealth Prevention Alliance's website at https://commonwealthpreventionalliance.org/pa-prevention-week/.  Daily 15-minute discussions beginning at 10 AM with state and community leaders on a variety of prevention-related topics will take place on the CPA's Facebook page and will be downloaded to the website after they premiere.

Our Mission is to enhance the quality, coordination and planning within the criminal and juvenile justice systems, to facilitate the delivery of services to victims of crime, and to increase the safety of our communities.
