2020 CJAB Conference

"The Changing Face of Criminal Justice"

Due to the growing concern over the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, PCCD regrets to inform you that the 2020 CJAB Conference scheduled for April 8-9, 2020 is canceled.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  We are working to secure dates for 2021 and we will send out information regarding next years' conference as soon as dates are confirmed.

Thank you for your ongoing support and interest in our CJAB Conference.  We hope that you can join us in 2021.

When: April 8-9, 2020

Where: The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, State College

What: The 2020 CJAB Conference "The Changing Face of Criminal Justice" will bring together criminal justice, behavioral health, and treatment partners in what promises to be a dynamic and informative one and a half-day event. We have an exciting line-up of national and local experts who will discuss the challenges impacting our criminal justice and behavioral health systems, and the collaborative solutions that have had proven success.

We are excited to feature new plenary speakers, including Dr. Joel Nuñez with his session "Shared Humanity as a Catalyst for Innovation, Integration, and Motivation"; Shawn D. Johnson and copresenters who will open your eyes to the trauma experienced prior to incarceration, the survival techniques required to maintain sanity while incarcerated, and the overwhelming support needed to navigate reentry; and, Dr. Stanley Andrisse, a formerly incarcerated person who is now an endocrinologist scientist at Johns Hopkins Medicine, will describe his journey from prison to professor with "From Prison Cells to Ph.D". In addition, this year's conference will offer breakout sessions covering topics including trauma-informed care, self-care, evidence-based practices, technology, and much more!

Who: The conference is open to all CJAB members, criminal justice, and behavioral health practitioners with a plethora of plenary and breakout sessions with universal appeal to all criminal justice and behavioral health professionals.

Please Note: This year's conference will last a full day on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 and a half-day on Thursday, April 9, 2020, concluding at 12:00 noon.

Continuing Education Credits: This conference has been submitted for review and approval to provide Continuing Judicial Education (CJE) Credits, Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits, and National Association of Social Workers continuing education credits.  We will post more information on credit availability as our applications are reviewed and approved.

Fee: There is no fee to attend. Lunch will be provided on the first day of the conference.

Cancellation Policy: In the past few years, a high volume of no-shows by people who have registered for the conference, but failed to attend, has resulted in a loss of substantial amount of funds. To ensure that this loss does not occur again, and to keep this conference free for attendees in the future, PCCD has instituted a strict policy requiring notification of cancellation by close of business on March 25, 2020.

Under this policy, cancellations after March 25, 2020 and/or "no shows" will be charged $77/day for each day that you registered but did not attend. These costs are derived from the per-person day meeting package rate set by the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center.

There will be no charge for those who notify PCCD of their inability to attend in writing (email) to Ms. Jackie Weaknecht at or Ms. Heather Hewitt at by close of business on March 25, 2020.
