2023 CJAB Conference

"Strengthening Collaborations and Partnerships"

When: March 21-22, 2023

Where: The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, State College

What: The 2023 CJAB Conference "Strengthening Collaborations and Partnerships" will bring together criminal justice, behavioral health, and treatment partners for what promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking one and a half-day event.  We have an exciting line-up of national and local experts who will discuss new and reemerging issues impacting our criminal justice and behavioral health systems, providing innovative strategies and collaborative solutions to meet the challenges ahead.

We are pleased to feature new plenary speakers this year!

Ken Montrose, Director of Training and Publications with Greenbriar Treatment Center, will join us to discuss "Professional Empowering, Enabling, and Disabling", where participants will be asked to look at their own cultural values and developmental issues when deciding how to deal with relapses.

In "Protecting Ourselves from Technology Threats and Trends", Rob Soop, Retired Supervisory Special Agent for the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, will discuss the manner in which popular technology is used to compromise the safety of others.

We will also be joined by Irvin Moore, who after spending 52 of his 76 years serving a life sentence, considers himself an "Eternal Optimist".  Join us for "A Justice-Touched Life: Where do we go from here?", where Mr. Moore will share insights about “Life”, both the one behind bars and the one he lives now, as Education Support & Community Liaison Restorative Justice Initiative for The Pennsylvania State University.

In addition to these engaging plenary sessions, we will feature several break-out sessions covering topics such as law enforcement treatment diversion, prosecuting cold cases, public defender collaboration, trauma-responsiveness, professional burnout, and other sessions addressing behavioral health, gun violence, reentry, technology, data, and more.

Who: The conference is open to all CJAB members, criminal justice, and behavioral health practitioners.  Plenary and breakout sessions feature universal appeal to all criminal justice and behavioral health professionals, including both introductory level material as well as innovative new concepts.
