The Shapiro-Davis Administration is committed to reducing violence and making communities safer. The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) administers funding for a wide range of programs that address community violence and prevention efforts across the Commonwealth.

New Funding Available

This page contains information on the current Building Opportunity through Out of School Time (BOOST)Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP), and Coordinated Community Violence Intervention (CCVI) Strategies Projects grants for 2024-25 recently announced by PCCD. ​Use the one pagers below to find out what type of funding your entity ​may be eligible for:

*2024-25 Building Opportunity through Out of School Time (BOOST) Funding 

Approximately $11.5 million in state funding is available to support a range of eligible prevention-focused program activities and out-of-school time (OST) models for statewide or local projects for at-risk school-age populations in un-derrepresented or underserved communities. Funding is aimed at reducing community violence by providing after-school learning opportunities for youth.​

  • Track 1: Local BOOST Projects
  • Track 2: Statewide BOOST Projects

Eligible applicants: School districts, area career and technical schools, libraries, statewide youth-serving 501(c)(4) nonprofit organizations, and community-based nonprofit organizations (i.e., active, registered 501(c)(3)s).

Deadline: Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 8 PM (ET)

*2024-25 Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Funding

​$45 million in state funding for Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) (VIP and CCVI solicitations) has been announced for grants and technical assistance to address community violence throughout the Commonwealth. ​

VIP funding supports a wide range of programs and intervention strategies that address community violence.

  • Track 1: VIP Expansion/Enhancement Grants: Support the continuation, expansion, and enhancement of effective, community-led strategies to intervene and respond to community violence.
  • Track 2: VIP Start-Up Grants:  Provide financial, technical assistance, training, coaching, and other supports to grassroots community organizations to support new programming as well as strengthen their infrastructure, enhance sustainability, and meet essential capacity needs. 

Eligible applicants: Community-based organizations (i.e., active, registered 501(c)(3)s), institutions of higher education, municipalities, counties, and district attorney’s offices. 

Deadline: Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 8 PM (ET)

*2024-25 Collaborative Community Viole​nce Intervention (CCVI) Strategies Funding 

CCVI grants support local planning and implementation of short-term intervention, mid-term prevention, and long-term transformation strategies designed to increase local coordination to more effectively prevent, intervene, and respond to gun and group-related violence. Applicants will apply for CCVI funding in PCCD’s Egrants system.

  • Track 1: CCVI Planning Grants: Provide funding for local jurisdictions (counties, municipalities) to support the development of violence reduction plans.
  • Track 2: CCVI Implementation Grants:  Advance collaborative, community-driven strategies to reduce violence using proven methods within counties/municipalities with the highest levels of gun incidents and injury statewide, especially those who experienced an increase in homicides between 2022 and 2023. 

Eligible applicants:  Community-based organizations (i.e., active, registered 501(c)(3)s), institutions of higher education, municipalities, counties, and district attorney’s offices.

VIP & Gun Violence Grants Program Archive

Providing support for effective, community-led gun violence prevention efforts is one of PCCD's top strategic priorities. In recent years, PCCD has made investments to support local gun violence reduction efforts using available state and federal funds aligned with recommendations identified by the Special Council and responsive to the needs of local communities.
